David Flippo’s Cratering Campaign

Since coming out of a bruising, party-fracturing primary, David Flippo’s campaign has been one bad story after another, leading him to replace his campaign manager. For a carpetbagger who moved to northern Nevada to run for Congress expecting to breeze into office, he’s hit quite a few bumps along the way. Now, as questions about his finances, donors and campaign pile up, Flippo is finding out he can’t keep northern Nevadans in the dark and expect their vote.

First, Flippo moved to northern Nevada and fractured the GOP into half, upsetting the moderate Republican establishment and leaving his primary opponents calling him out for being an extremist carpetbagger — “a Las Vegas millionaire trying to buy a northern Nevada congressional seat.”

Then, he couldn’t even meet the basic legal transparency requirements for a congressional candidate. Flippo is still missing the deadline to file his financial disclosure, leaving voters in the dark about the very finances he’s using to bankroll his campaign.

And it’s not like there’s nothing to disclose. Flippo has dumped more than $1.6 million of what he claims is his own money into his campaign. NOTUS investigated him and suggested he is George Santos 2.0.

Then there’s Robert Beadles. Flippo accepted donations from the dangerous election conspiracy theorist with a history of anti-semitism, begging questions about the company he’s keeping.

And to make matters worse, retiring Rep. Mark Amodei keeps talking about how despicable Flippo is: “Two cycles ago, I got a guy who couldn’t get out of a Republican Assembly primary in Clark County,” Amodei said, referring to Flippo. “Last cycle, couldn’t get out of a Republican CD4 primary in Clark County, and then shows up and goes, ‘I’m the answer for CD2 because it has historically been a Republican seat, and I love Donald Trump.’ So it’s like, ‘OK, tell me about your deep love for the people you want to serve.’”

Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Asaf Grofman released the following statement:

“NV-02 is in play for Democrats for the first time in 20 years and David Flippo is feeling the pressure. With 77 days to go until Election Day, Flippo is quickly realizing he cannot just lie, carpetbag, and cheat his way into office without northern Nevadans having their say.”
