Governor Joe Lombardo Joins Community Meeting to Give Update on the Hawk Fire
NEVADA, August 25 - RENO, Nev. — Governor Joe Lombardo joined a community meeting for residents affected by the Hawk Fire Monday, providing an update on the state’s response efforts and pledging to stand with the community through the entire process.
"And the most important part for me, as your governor and representing the state of Nevada, is for you to hear from me that we care,” said Governor Lombardo. “We absolutely care. And we care so much to the detriment of other resources that we’re required to supply as state government. I have marshalled all my available resources to this vicinity in order to address our current situation. I will continue to maintain your back throughout this whole process.”

Following the operational briefing led by the Great Basin Complex Incident Management Team 6 and remarks by Governor Lombardo, residents had the opportunity to ask questions and receive direct information from experts representing state, local, and federal agencies involved in the response.
As of Tuesday morning, the Hawk Fire is 27% contained at approximately 15,051 acres, and evacuation orders and warnings have been downgraded or lifted in several areas. Thousands of residents remain displaced as crews continue working around the clock to strengthen containment lines and safely repopulate affected communities.
Governor Lombardo declared a state of emergency on August 22, just hours after the Hawk Fire started and began threatening residential areas. On August 23, the Governor was on the ground to receive an operational briefing from local officials and thank first responders.
The State of Nevada remains fully engaged in response efforts, with the Office of Emergency Management, the Nevada National Guard, the Nevada Department of Transportation, the Nevada Department of Public Safety, and the Nevada Division of Forestry all assisting in the response.
